The Manus night hosted by the UPNG manus students’
association have been described as a success with a good turnout from the manus
community and city residents.
Held at the Cosmopolitan in the national capital district,
the fundraiser night is aimed at raising funds to procure medical equipment for
project “Karai blo Chauka” an end of year project to deliver basic medical
equipment to Lorengau General hospital in Manus.
Association’s president Deadrah Polomon who was happy for
the outcome expressed her gratitude to everyone for their support.
“Manus night was a success per the general manager for
Cosmopolitan, all tickets sold out so we are pretty happy with that, gate
takings were pretty good as well
“MSA would like to also Convey its deepest Gratitude towards
artist Keni Lucak, Y4 Gunz, Ricky Kali Stagajah and the Host venue
Cosmopolitan”
We would like to
thank our families’ friends and Manus community in Pom for their support,” Ms
Polomon said.
While expressing her satisfaction for the outcome she also
expressed her disappointment.
“The only thing that I was disappointed about was that there
was a Manus soccer club fundraising on the same night at club regal which saw a
good number of people who attended”
“It was disappointing because the project that we have
initiated will go towards will go towards supporting the whole of the province
rather than a small fraction of people,” she said
The Manus night is a major fundraising among other mini
fundraising like hot dog sales ice cream soft drinks and lunch pack sales held
within and outside the campus.
With the major fundraiser and the Mini fundraisings, the
association is still looking for donors who would like to step in to help.
